The Great Tastes of Pennsylvania Wine & Food Festival Returns to Split Rock

Due to its proximity to Lake Erie and the Atlantic Ocean, Pennsylvania has a mild climate favorable to growing grapes. And where there are grapes, there’s wine. The state is home to nearly 120 wineries, leaving many to wonder where one might go to sample as many of these wines as possible? Funny you should ask.

For the last 27 years, Split Rock Resort has been home to the Great Tastes of Pennsylvania Wine & Food Festival. The two-day outdoor festival, taking place June 24 & 25, 2017, features twenty-eight of Pennsylvania’s wineries and each admission includes a complimentary wine glass for tastings. Yum!

The fun starts with the wine but it doesn’t end there. The festival's three stages of live music, featuring local acts Tommy Guns, Group Du Jour, and Kartune, provide a soundtrack for horse carriage rides, corn eating contests, and oversized yard games. And where would a wine festival be without some grape stomping?

After you wash the grape juice off your feet and get your shoes back on, wander over to the nearly 50 craft vendors on display, selling handmade jewelry, custom hats, artisan cheeses, locally-made cigars, and more.

Still feeling thirsty? There are two beer tents on site to compliment the selection of 18 local food vendors, offering everything from pizza, barbecue, gyros, pierogies, desserts, and everything in between.
